We first assisted the customer in ordering the necessary parts/materials. After confirming delivery, we coordinated the installation date and time with the customer and our professional Palmer, AK Starlink installers.

The SOW (scope of work):

• Install a Starlink Standard Kit using Standard Pipe Adapter mount in an existing pole
• Determine Starlink (proprietary) cable path and use a masonry (cable) routing kit to replace existing grommets/cable pass-through and seal with quick dry sealant.
• Activate & configure Starlink Gen 3 WiFi Mesh Router
• Orient the customer on how to use the Starlink App
• Test and document with photos

The professional Starlink installers arrived as scheduled and began the installation by performing the Starlink Obstructions Test using the Starlink App. This test is designed to identify the best spot for the dish to receive a good-quality signal from the Starlink satellite.

The Obstructions Test result showed a “Good experience” for streaming, browsing, video calls, and gaming. This suggests that the location is well-suited for installing and positioning the Starlink dish.

The Starlink dish was installed on an existing pole using the Standard pipe adapter mount. This method allows the dish to achieve an optimal line of sight for satellite connectivity, minimizing obstructions and maximizing signal strength. The use of the adapter mount made the installation straightforward, leveraging existing infrastructure without the need for additional mounting hardware or modifications.

Using a masonry cable routing kit, the Starlink installation team carefully routed the proprietary Starlink cable from the outdoor dish to the indoor Gen 3 WiFi Mesh Router. Then, the team activated and set up the Starlink Gen 3 WiFi Mesh Router using the Starlink app. Log in, follow the on-screen instructions to establish your WiFi network, and customize your settings, including the SSID and password.

The team performed the Starlink Alignment Test to ensure the dish was accurately aligned for optimal satellite connectivity. This involved verifying the dish’s orientation and position to achieve an unobstructed sky view and maximize signal strength. The test checks for potential obstructions, such as trees or buildings, and ensures that the dish’s azimuth (horizontal bearing) and elevation angles are correctly set.

Finally, the team performed the Starlink Speed Test twenty minutes after the installation to assess the internet connection’s overall quality. We also requested the customer to perform another Starlink speed test (basic and advanced) after a few hours.  It is important to note that Starlink may sometimes take up to 12 hours to sync.
